I had lessons at VDSI with Shafi as instructor. Shafi is an excellent teacher: calm, comprehensive, and attentive, he not only provides an ideal environment in which to learn for the road test, but more importantly, to learn to drive safely. As a result of his expert instruction, I passed the test. I highly recommend VDSI, and Shafi, if you are learning to drive!

I failed my driving test in the Kootenays back in 2018, and again in 2019. Horror left turns. I took a long break and didn't try again until 2026, after I moved to Vancouver. I was really anxious to start driving again after so many years, and the big city traffic here looked more chaotic than back home. I booked 10 lessons with Shafi and Ashraf. Shafi was great at getting me back up to speed. He broke down different driving techniques into smaller, easy to remember steps. I liked that he let me make “safe” mistakes, and would correct me after I felt how awkward it was for myself. I felt ready for the test just from working with him. Ashraf helped sharpen my skills and build my confidence. He could tell I was nervous, and after every lesson he'd reassure me that I'm actually a great driver, that the mistakes were just from anxiously second guessing myself. I used to do left turns a little too sharply, but Ashraf helped me fix that. He said “smooth like judo” and sarcastically waved with judo-y hands. The bits of humour helped a lot with my anxiousness. Anyway, I passed with basically a clean sheet (I left a turn signal on too long by accident because I'm heavy handed with the stalk :D) Thank you Shafi and Ashraf!

I got my lessons from Shafi and was able to get my N real fast! He's nice and very good at teaching. He knows what to know for the test and fully prepares you technically and mentally! would 100% recommend to anyone at any level who wants to learn how to drive!

Fantastic instructors that helped me excel during my road test. Shah is an amazing teacher and was my main instructor for my lessons. He really helped me adjust to city driving and hone my driving techniques. He is extremely knowledgeable and had so many little tricks that help make sure your driving skills are perfect. Shafi oversaw my warm up and road test and he did an amazing job at the final review before the test. He even quizzed me on various pictures of intersection while I was waiting for the road test to start. 10/10 driving school with some amazing instructors!

Shafi and Ashraf were both extremely knowledgeable and helpful instructors who helped me develop my driving’s skills. They were extremely diligent, accommodating and I would highly recommend them!

I had both Thomas and Shafi as my instructors at VDS and they were both amazing teachers. I passed my N test on my first try with an almost entirely 'clean' record! Each lesson was tailored to what I felt I needed to improve upon, and made me feel more confident in my ability to perform so many different driving manoeuvres. Shafi would go into detail on certain more difficult manoeuvres, like turning at big intersections/median, in a calm manner that gave me more confidence. I felt really prepared before my test. Good customer service and easy to book lessons that fit with my schedule. If you want to pass your road test on the first go, I highly recommend VDS!
